Business Coaching O’Connor for all size businesses

Business coaching, regardless of the size of your outfit. From neighbourhood shops to global corporations, everyone can benefit from professional business coaching. You have probably read every e-book and online article about building and growing your company. However, generic ideas that apply to nearly all businesses only get you so far. Your company is unique and not like any other so generic information will not always work, which is why we have 1 on 1 meetings so we can understand you and your business and create a plan just for you.

“The advice that sticks out I got from John Doerr, who in 2001 said, “My advice to you is to have a coach.” I initially resented the advice, because after all, I was a CEO. I was pretty experienced. Why would I need a coach? Am I doing something wrong? My argument was, How could a coach advise me if I’m the best person in the world at this? But that’s not what a coach does. The coach doesn’t have to play the sport as well as you do. They have to watch you and get you to be your best. In the business context a coach is not a repetitious coach. A coach is somebody who looks at something with another set of eyes, describes it to you in [his] words, and discusses how to approach the problem.”

– Eric Schmidt Previous Chairman and CEO of Google

What does Business Coaching include?

  • Knowledge-based coaching: If you want training for knowledge only, then the presentation of material with quizzes and some discussion is a typical format. The goal would be to see if people know what they should do and can speak about it.
  • Skill-based coaching: If you want training for skill development, you assume people have a skill base already, and then provide skill-building sessions, for example how to run an effective meeting, or how to conduct a one on one session with an employee. The goal would be to see specific changes to a procedure and skill through practice both in the training and outside (using employee surveys for example).
  • Behaviour-change oriented training: If you want training for change of knowledge, skill, and attitude, essentially you want to see a certain kind of behaviour cluster that can be applied to a variety of contexts. In this type of training, people develop higher self-awareness, other-awareness and the ability to think more systematically.
